The Advocate is an American LGBT-interest magazine, printed bi-monthly[2] and available by subscription. The Advocate brand also includes a website. Both magazine and website have an editorial focus on news, politics, opinion, and arts and entertainment of interest to lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender (LGBT) people. The magazine, established in 1967,[3] is the oldest and largest LGBT publication in the United States and the only surviving one of its kind that was founded before the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City, an incident that is generally credited as the beginning of the LGBT rights movement.

The Cherry Fund - More Questions than Answers

Let me first start off by complaining to the entire Board of Directors currently representing The Cherry Fund.  Why?  Well because I have tried and asked and requested information very quietly and privately mainly to protect the interest of those who The Cherry Fund helps support.  HOWEVER, not only has my requests to meet with the board and for information been ignorned until now the information that was finally supplied didn't supply anything in the sense of what I know you all know I was (like any vested business that donates inkind services) I was looking for.  The info I have requested is public information and frankly the lack of proper response should alarm everyone.  Why?  Why not just supply the very basic information that I've inquired about?

Why would you respond to what was a financial inquiry only to respond with information which contained not one single dollar sign, meaning there was not one financial, one figure, one nothing of what I asked for.

The organization files a 990 - postcard - which basically means "Most small tax-exempt organizations whose annual gross receipts are normally $50,000 or less can satisfy their annual reporting requirement by electronically submitting Form 990-N if they choose not to file Form 990 or Form 990-EZ instead"  This means for the last three years The Cherry Fund's annual gross receipts are $50,000 or less. - okay great.  Now with this BIG party weekend and all the donations the organization provides to local organizations you're telling the IRS your annual gross receipts don’t go over $50,000?  So I simply asked to see a breakdown, why not?

Below you'll find two things.  One my certified letter to Allen Sexton, The Cherry Fund President.  The second is Allen's response (which I stress offers not one-dollar amount in any of its few pages) Did Allen really think that his response was going to justify my inquiry?

I publish these two items prior to a more in-depth response.  I'm hopeful that the Board will appropriately respond once again prior to my December 15th deadline.  Again, I have no problem being completely transparent here. Heck, I have nothing to hide infact I've done everything possible not to make this a public battle. I will supply all supporting documentation to any of my concerns for now I'm simply asking for basic information that ANY non-profit would offer when asked.  What is there to hide?  Oh, and this whole contract stuff Allen writes about - Sorry Allen, you're a non-profit organization and should you wish to keep financials a secret in order to position yourselves better for contracts I'd suggest you not operate under as a non-profit organization.

My request is not difficult; however your response is very suspect.  Your turn to clear it up – that is clear up your own doing of making it so suspect.

AHHHHHHH!!!!

Are you serious!?  He's always wanted a Purple Heart - and to think that he even accepted this prestigious medal from a veteran who while fighting for our country nearly gave his life for it?  Mr. Trump, how dare you.  You'll never do anything near the sacrifice brave men and women have given to earn such a medal.  Try serving in our armed forces, try going through what the families go through when faced with a loss of life or injury while serving.  As a son of a Command Sargent Major who has served 42 years of his life, I find this putrid and makes me want to vomit.  I don't what this man representing any member of the military never mind my interests.

Yes, this is about Donald Trump.

I'm so frustrated I can't for the life of me understand why members of this already great country accept the words of a man who says MCCain was no military hero (veterans - you fight in a war to defend this country now where is your voice to defend yourself and fellow veterans? Stand up and fight back!), who mocks the disabled who steals from the poor contractors? Who thinks this man will actually care about the veterans, the disabled, and the blue collar worker when he publicly and in your face disrespects you and how do we react to this behaviour? People rally to support him? Seriously WTF? Yes we have issues an no one is a wizard who has all the answers to fix things that's why the American people are loved we fight we push onward and we do what is right to fix them but what happens when the American people accept blatant reprehensible behaviours (which at one time we the American people, because of our values, beliefs and mutual respect would have never tolerated) as acceptable behaviours? What kind of example are we setting for our kids? What sort of standard have we now set for future candidates who run for the most important and powerful position in the world. Damn I mean if Trump can behave like this before our face and we accept these behaviours and lower or standards so low what will happen when he has the power of the most powerful country in the world how will he use that power and will we regret we didn't uphold the values that we'd expect from our own countrymen/woman? Would we allow a teacher to make fun of a disabled student? NO - never! Would a veteran accept disrespect from a child NO - never, don't we all have to pay our bills? When did we begin to accept these behaviours from a Presidential candidate? I dare a teacher to poke fun at a disabled student and see the outrage and demands for that teachers firing now let's keep up our standards of our Presidential candidate and come Nov we must show Trump what's it's like to be fired and show him we have not lowered our values and standards of what we expect from our President otherwise we give a green like for our kids to act just like Trump with no regard to morals or values you and I grew up being instilled with. I'd never tolerate my son/daughter making fun of the disabled or disrespecting a Veteran not to mention a POW and so why do we find this behaviour acceptable from the most respected and powerful position in the world? WAKE UP PEOPLE.
